My life as a writer is unexpected.
I never visioned myself as a writer – until recently. Now I want to do nothing else. I get up every morning wondering what I’m going to write. I have a memoir and novel that I plan to finish by the end of 2016. I write a short story every week for my online writing group. Then there are just a slew of ideas that I need to save in notebooks and files on my laptop. Sometimes I have multiple writing documents open at once so I can pick something depending on my mood.
I never had any interest in writing in school, but I did well in grammer and spelling. Plot and structure alluded me and I’m paying the price now. But I’m improving. Every day. I’ve even dared to share my stories with you here on this site.
There are many websites that tell you how to write, sell you books and coaching programs. I have been able to become a writer (there, I said it) by reading online advice and reading books, listening to podcasts, watching videos and attending webinars that are offered online. I’ve been doing this for a few years and have decided I want to share my favorite advice.
I want to publicly state my comittments so I can be held accountable to my goals. I mentioned them earlier. At the rate I’m going, I won’t make it. But I’m still going to try. I also want to share the advice and activities that I have found most helpful in my writing “career” – as short as it is so far.
Plot Lines – What makes a Prize Winning Novel
Any advice or comments you have are greatly appreciated. Any questions you have – that are related to writing or my journey – I am happy to answer.
